Ezra Benson a former American government official says “Pride is concerned with who is right. Humility is concerned with what is right.” Throughout our lives we were always told repetivity to be humble, in other words to have humility. Humility is a modest or low view of one's own importance; humbleness. Do we really know what that means? This may be the dictionary definition but there is a deeper meaning behind it.
In the Quran in surah Al-Furqan, the aya states, “The servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say words of peace.” As muslims it's a duty for us to follow the words of all. He tells us to block the ignorance and disregard the arrogance that may catch up to us. This does not necessarily mean to have no pride in ourselves or our blessings and gifts from God. Instead we should be cautious of what would could potentially show blindness to illiteracy, and what would be known as just a decent amount of self esteem and confidence. We also need to continuously remind ourselves of everything that God has granted us, and be appreciative of what we have.
As we go through life we might come to moments where we are generously blessed and if we show off and brag about all the valuables we have, all the hard work that led us to receive and earn their gifts may go away instantly. Learning from this we can say that the best way to go through life's by keeping a consistent amount of humility and humbleness. In spite all of this we still need to be proud muslims and be prideful of only the important things in life that could potentially have a positive outcome.
